Picture 4: Blue Army crossbow men swarm the Red Army 2-handed weapon men. Also pictured (on horse) is the Blue Hero, Sir Bluford of Handiopolis (Dex 5, Cha 6) who's helping as best he can, bless his heart.
Picture 5: tangled melee between the Red Army light cavalry and the Blue Army halberd and light spear men.
Picture 6: Overhead shot of set-up, showing all terrain features and initial troop positions (and treasure tokens)
FYI I'm sitting on a crap-ton of dwarves that could field an army of similar size to these in case we want to do more in the future.
ReplyDeleteFor the blue side, the heroes of the night were my crossbowmen, my wizard, and Sir Bluford. The crossbowmen killed like two units by themselves in melee combat, without ever using their crossbows (I believe). The wizard, well he managed to avoid melee combat until the very end and used a handful of spells to max effect (charmed the opposing hero who wandered off, and made the most of fireball and sleep (and magic missile as well, if I recall right). Sir Bluford actually managed to kill a handful of the opposition, but it was more fun yelling "I'm helping!" every time he missed.
